Interesting monthly programs are planned throughout the academic year, including luncheons, coffees, speakers and trips. The annual Fall Tea provides an opportunity for new and continuing members to become acquainted with the total program, to sign up for sections, and to meet the scholarship recipients.
Since 1959, UFC has provided a unique service to newcomers in the community. They are invited to special orientation programs, get-acquainted coffees, and tours of the area. Informal social gatherings enable new members to meet a broad cross-section of UFC members and others from the surrounding communities.
Any member of UFC (and guests of members) may attend any of the following events. Space is often limited; therefore reservations are suggested.
UFC's reservation policy is: While most UFC events are open to guests, members will have priority where there are a limited number of spaces. There will be two deadlines for these events. The first deadline will be for members only and guests names will be placed on a waiting list period. After the first deadline, if there is space available, guests will be welcome.
UFC's refund policy is: If you have paid for a program and your plans change PRIOR to the reservation cutoff date, you may request a refund. Otherwise, you will receive a refund ONLY if we are able to fill your spot from the waiting list.

Warm up in the middle of winter with a slide show of colorful Cuba! Laurie Friedman, an avidtraveler and award-winning photographer, visited Cuba with a photography group in 2003. They started their tour in Havana, and for two weeks they visited colonial World Heritage cities, small towns, and the beautiful countryside. One of the highlights was the friendly people, happy to pose with their aging automobiles or in front of beautiful old pastel buildings, albeit with peeling paint. Since Laurie speaks Spanish, she was able to get information first-hand on life in Cuba, and will share her impressions. We will start with a Hispanic-themed potluck, followed by the slide show.
