In 1962 UFC introduced special interest groups, which became very popular. Currently there are 17 activity groups. Members may sign up at the Fall Tea or during the year for such sections as Antiquing, Bird Watching, Cooking, Book Discussion, Bridge, Bunco, Foreign Language Conversation, Resources, Restaurant Luncheons, Scrabble, Stitchery, Walking, Wine Tasting, and Yoga. New sections are formed as new interests arise.

  • Antiquing

    Want to learn about antiques and collectibles? Events are generally held the 4th Thursday of the month from 10 am to noon. Contact Rosie Cushing, 756-9510 or Linda Schwartz, 759-9792.

  • Birdwatching

    Davis is a wonderful area for observing wildlife, especially birds. Meetings are on Wednesdays and times vary. Contact Lynn Baysinger, 756-8787.

  • Bon Appetit

    There are five evening groups that meet to prepare delicious dinners and enjoy each others´ company. If interested in joining a new group, contact Sheila Beyer, 231-5059 or Pat Kaminker, 759-9342.

  • Book Club

    There are 5 groups that meet monthly either during the day or evening to discuss characters and plots. To join the 2nd Monday evening group, contact Gale Sosnick, 758-5665. To join the 2nd Friday noon group, contact Yvonne Clinton, 753-1711.

  • Bridge

    To be a substitute in the current group that meets on Tuesdays at 1:00 pm, or to join a new group, contact Irene Cameron, 756-8018.

  • Bunco

    Easy to learn and lots of fun. To substitute in the group that meets the 2nd Tuesday, or to join a new group, contact Yvonne Adcock, 756 4408.

  • Galloping Dejeuner

    Visit an area restaurant for lunch on the 1st Tuesday of the month. Contact Anne Elbrecht, 756-2383.

  • German Conversation

    This group meets on the 2nd Monday of the month. Contact Elfriede DeRock, 756-2680.

  • Resources

    Share your latest finds on products, professional services, recipes, etc. We supply local resources! Meet with us on the last Thursday morning of the month. Contact Sandi Kniep, 753-3610.

  • Scrabble

    Play Scrabble on the 4th Wednesday at 1:30 pm. Call Dorothy Benson, 750 3698.

  • Sketchbook

    For anyone who likes to draw - either novices or those with experience. We meet at various venues in Davis - either indoors or out. Group meets the 2nd Monday from 1:30-3:00 pm. Contact Judy Capurro, 756-1157.

  • Spanish Conversation

    There are two groups for Spanish Conversation whether you are fluent or just a beginner. To join the group which meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays from 7:00-9:00 pm, contact Jill Pickett, 753-4123.

  • Stitchery

    Beginners and skilled needle workers are invited to join us on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 1:00 pm. Call Marie Gillingham, 661-6801.

  • Sunset

    Cook recipes from the current Sunset Magazine to share for lunch. To form a new group, contact Sheila Beyer, 231-5059 or Pat Kaminker, 759-9342.

  • Walking

    There are two walking groups. Rockin´ Walkers meet Monday through Friday from 7:30-8:30 am to walk in scenic areas in East and South Davis. Contact Mary Robertson, 758-1349. For information on the second group, contact Mahvash Ghorbanzadeh, 758-3902.

  • Wine Tasting

    There are currently three wine groups that meet to sample various wines. For the 3rd Wednesday group, contact Amanda Mason, 707-927-6291. For the 1st Friday group, contact Mary Fish, 757-7939 or Nadia Trauner, 759-1125. For the 3rd Friday group, contact Norma Reisen, 792-1865.

  • Yoga

    Instructor Kamala Paul will teach Kali Ray´s Tri-Yoga from 10:30 am to noon. Basic is on Tuesdays and Level I is on Thursdays. Fees are payable in advance. Contact Sandi Kniep, 753-3610.

  • Literary Ladies

    Sharing a meaningful poem, discussing an intriguing short work, sipping a cup of tea...Each "Literary Lady" will bring a favorite short piece to the monthly forum, presenting the work and opening it for interpretation and discussion. Contact Mary Ann Doerzbacher, 412-559-5161.

  • Mah Jongg

  • Photography

  • Tea and Sing

    This group is for women who like to sing the good old songs. You do not need to read music. Lyrics are supplied along with tea and goodies. We meet once a month. Contact Sheila Beyer, 231-5059.
