In 1962 UFC introduced special interest groups, which became very popular. Currently there are 17 activity groups. Members may sign up at the Fall Tea or during the year for such sections as Antiquing, Bird Watching, Cooking, Book Discussion, Bridge, Bunco, Foreign Language Conversation, Resources, Restaurant Luncheons, Scrabble, Stitchery, Walking, Wine Tasting, and Yoga. New sections are formed as new interests arise.
